The Korean special steel producer SeAH BESTEEL Corporation has placed an order with the Austrian enterprise BRAUN Maschinenfabrik for the supply of two new traverse abrasive cut-off machines for the small bar rolling mill in the Kunsan works. These two heavy-duty machines will replace the two existing abrasive cut-off machines of older design that are currently installed downstream of the cooling bed in the run-out roller table of the rolling mill.

The two state-of-the-art cut-off units are designed for the application of cut-off wheels having a diameter of up to 1270 mm, permitting the hot cutting of layers of material up to 1150 mm in width.

The BRAUN scope of supply includes various auxiliary facilities as well as the complete automation system, which is interfaced to the rolling mill control system. Moreover, BRAUN also delivers the engineering for the modification of the existing roller table and the scrap handling system.

The new abrasive cut-off facilities are to be commissioned in early 2006.
