Complete plant with 2 dry abrasive cut-off machines type TS 16 W
In case of the electrodes and the bloom recast of them in special steel plants the irregular ends as well as the stubs welded to the head end of electrodes for transport purposes must be cut off (cropped). In many cases cutting the blooms to certain part lengths is also necessary. As the diameters of the finished blooms are often very large, abrasive cutting is performed by index cutting (2-3 partial cuts; after each partial cut the bloom is turned by 180 or 120°). To this end BRAUN has developed special turning chucks. Moreover, the feeding roller table is conceived such that the taper of the electrodes and blooms caused by casting is compensated, thus ensuring the cut to be always performed at a right angle to the workpiece axis (rollers individually liftable and lowerable). The whole plant is operated fully automatic
