Applications in forges
SCOT FORGE, Spring Grove, IL / USA
Dry abrasive cut-off machine type TS 15 V
After each forging process (intermediate or finish forging) the ends (head or tail) of the forged parts must be cut off (cropped). Sometimes the forged parts must be cut to certain finished lengths. In such cases cutting is performed in hot condition. The abrasive cut-off machine is operated either semi-automatic (by the operator from the control desk) or fully automatic via interconnection to the control system of the forging machine. Important aspects are short cutting times, which ensure a high throughput of the forge, and the quality of the cutting surfaces, which are often rather large.
